They are finding that the Caribbean market is going downhill ... it's the target of price slashing, demand is low and is going lower, and apparently see the Caribbean only as a destination for the bottom end of the market.

Do we remember that a year or so ago, Carnival Cruises (I think that was the one) decided that it would no longer stop at Aruba? It made some excuse about fuel oil costs, but everyone knew that was bogus. There simply wasn't demand.

Imagine the impact if we all wrote to the cruise lines ... one at a time, maybe ... timing our letters so they would get a certain number every day ... and said that we might be interested in a Caribbean cruise, but would not consider using any cruise line that stopped at Aruba.

The cruise lines are dangerous enough in themselves ... remember the case of Amy Bradley, who vanished from a cruise ship in March 1998 as it was docking at Curacao. Just the day before it was in Aruba, and crew members wanted to take her to Carlos 'n' Charlies.
There is strong evidence that Amy remains alive, but in a situation of duress.

In any event, the stench that surrounds Aruba's name is cause enough to stay away. If enough people told the cruise lines, maybe even they would catch on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19199597.post-6247630132307186572008-02-18T11:07:00.000-05:002008-02-18T11:07:00.000-05:00Don't forget the travel boards.
