DON'T FORGET--THE NATALEE HOLLOWAY MOVIE, APRIL 19, 2009
Premieres Sunday, April 19 at 8 pm EST, airing on LMN
Teenager Natalee Holloway vanished in 2005 while visiting Aruba on a senior class trip. In a passionate and relentless effort to discover the truth behind her daughter’s disappearance, Beth Holloway captured the nation’s attention by working tirelessly to solve the mystery that shattered her family’s life.
Today, Holloway continues to speak publicly about the potential dangers of international travel. Her resolve and unwavering strength are at the center of this emotional story that takes viewers behind the headlines and into the heart of an extraordinary woman. The movie, about a mother's search for truth and justice, is based on the book "Loving Natalee: A Mother's Testament of Hope and Faith" by Beth Holloway.
It’s the same scenario time after time, and it’s never a good outcome. It sounds so simple and something you’d even tell an elementary child — never go anywhere with strangers, never leave a place alone, and have a time and place to meet with friends before you leave the establishment.
Another message is the importance of justice. I was going to bring Natalee home whether she was alive or not. I was going to have justice and put her perpetrators behind bars. Well, none of that happened, and I can only hope that it does one day, but if it doesn’t, I still have a real hope — and real hope has actions behind it.
And my real hope is that, when I present to colleges, churches, civic groups and attorney generals, I am making a difference. It’s tangible for me, and that is why I keep going.

INTERVIEW WITH BETH HOLLOWAY
What prompted you to write the book “Loving Natalee: A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith”?
The writing of the book actually evolved over a period of time. Shortly after this happened to Natalee, I made a pledge that I would share her story with every high school I could, because I hoped that no other family would have to endure the challenges that we faced during our first few weeks in Aruba. I lived in Aruba for about four months while I was searching for her, and during the fifth month, I thought it was time for me to make good on my pledge as Natalee’s case was now in the hands of John Kelly, attorney at law. I began traveling and, over the course of two years, presented personal safety messages to over 20,000 high school and college students in 22 states. During this time I thought, “How could I reach more travelers?” and I started thinking about writing a book. How did this movie come to be?
It’s a direct result of the book. We started talking about it with Lifetime, and at first I wasn’t sure if I could take the next step. But then I had the privilege and opportunity to fly to Los Angeles and to sit down with an incredible creative staff from Sony and Lifetime. I knew instantly that this was the next step and the right thing to do.What was it like being on set?
I was nervous and overwhelmed at first. Even the equipment and the logistics were fascinating to me. I had my camera and took pictures whenever I could. It was really an honor to be there.Has it been emotional to replay these events?
I don’t think that anything could compare with the first four months of what we endured while searching for Natalee in Aruba. The movie is something I view as an accomplishment, because we are able to help shed light on a lot of things that I wrote about in my book. What is it like having Tracy Pollan play you?
It’s an honor. I think she’s a genuine, sincere, real person. There could not have been a better choice. In the movie, we watch Beth change and grow into an activist as she searches for her daughter and for the truth about what happened. Tell us about that experience.
There seems to be a common thread among all of us who have experienced a devastating or traumatic event, and that is the wanting to reach out to others — whether it’s through philanthropic events or in my case, taking Natalee’s story podium to podium, high school to high school and college to college. You want to make a difference and ensure that no other family will have to endure the same tragedy. What do you really think happened to Natalee?
We have tried to be so careful not to speculate over the last four years. We always go back to the known facts, and the known facts are that we have indentified the three individuals who were last seen with Natalee alive. As she was leaving Carlos and Charlie’s, we know the condition that Natalee was in. And when the suspects took her from the establishment, we have 22 different versions that they have given to the police to explain what they did with her that night. We know the sexual conduct they engaged in with her in the car as she was semiconscious, falling asleep and waking up. So we know it doesn’t look good, the things that were transpiring. Other than this, we have no further information. You are very involved in helping others stay safe while traveling abroad. As a public speaker, what words of guidance do you give your audiences?
I remind them about the importance of their personal safety and that personal safety boils down to making a plan. Whether that plan is investigating the infrastructure of a country that you will be visiting, securing police numbers and embassy contacts, or understanding what the United States Embassy can and cannot provide for tourists who find themselves in a crisis outside our borders, it’s important to be prepared. I also remind my audiences that a lot of these occurrences transpire in the early morning hours. I cannot tell you the exhausted list of families that I have been working with whose loved one was last seen leaving an establishment at 12:30 am, 1 am or 1:30 am.It’s the same scenario time after time, and it’s never a good outcome. It sounds so simple and something you’d even tell an elementary child — never go anywhere with strangers, never leave a place alone, and have a time and place to meet with friends before you leave the establishment.
What would you like audiences to take away from this movie?
I think the overall message is the message of hope, the hope for justice and the hope of making a difference in other people’s lives. I think what this movie will do after all is said and done is give my definition of hope — which is the inexplicable empowerment that enables us to move successfully from challenge to resolution with courage. It’s more than just wishful thinking; it’s the guarantee that there’s light at the end of whatever tunnel we’re trying to find our way through. My first phase was a fantasy phase of hope, and I thought I was coming to Aruba and taking Natalee home alive. When I left home, I told my son I’d return with her in a couple of days. As you move through a crisis and your hope is shattered, you have to find a new hope to carry you through. If I had stayed in my fantasy hope for too long, I could have never have fought so hard for Natalee’s life to make a difference.Another message is the importance of justice.

The Natalee moive will lure Joran to go public again and talk and try to get his moive contract. But this time he will be caught outside the protection of the Aruban government's jurisdiction. It is just a matter of time.
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is reviewing evidence and considering whether to file criminal charges against a Somali pirate captured in a hostage standoff on the high seas.
Department spokesman Dean Boyd says prosecutors are looking at "evidence and other issues" to determine whether to bring a case in the United States.
Attorney General Eric Holder said this past week that the U.S. hasn't seen a case of piracy against an American ship in hundreds of years. U.S. prosecutors do have jurisdiction to bring charges when a crime is committed against a U.S. citizen or on a U.S. ship.
Joran is no exception. If Joran is caught in international trafficking, the Dutch authorities agrees that Joran can be brought to US for trial. The Kingdom of Netherlands is very sick and tired of Joran.
The American authorities has the power granted by the president to boycott Aruba, and to recover Natalee's body from Aruba.
The American authorities are allowed to use the Natalee movie as a tool in all public transportations to remind people that Aruba is a lawless and pirates holdout. Aruba is a very dangerous place for vacations by the Americans.
Natalee Holloway is a great movie even though it was tainted by some Aruban government bribes. For example, one scene shows a Natalee poster is torn away from a Wiwi tree from the westernly wind in Aruba, a symbol showing Aruba's denial to the Natalee's case. There are many subtle Anti-Beth messages in the moive.
The Aruban government coverup of Natalee's rape and murder by the old Dutchman Joran van der Sloot had plagued American politics, economy, jobs and foreign policy almost since June 2005. The president will use the strongest boycott measures to break up the Mafia clan crime families now controlling Aruba's tourism industries and hotel constructions.
The ArubanBoycott had worn the Aruban government out. The corrupt Aruban officials got more and more desparate, as their tourism money were already running low. Looks like the boycott grassroot movement paid off.
A long term boycott will certainly have a deterrent effect against Aruba's coverup. You can't win on land, but the American people can win by not visiting and spending money in Aruba. The Natalee Holloway movie was originally corrupted by Aruban government's bribes, but now the change of mood has made the movie working against the Aruban government. The movie maker plans not to air movie and to destroy it after all. What a scam!
The Dutch film critics said the Natalee Holloway movie shows Natalee went voluntarily with Joran walking down the steps towards the beach, and so it couldn't have been any kidnapping, rape and murder. The moive says Natalee just walked away and disappeared by herself!
The Natalee Holloway Story movie and ArubanBoycott grassroot movement are getting hot over Internet. Aruba is in a very bad spotlight. The American people are stopping and not going to Aruba, and waiting for the outcome and polls after the April 19 preview of the full production movie. The stakes are very high and risky for the parent company of the film maker. The bribes and corruption of the movie might destroy the good reputation of the parent company. But the film critics and afvocates already have the copies of the moivie's preproduction copy, and are spreading all over the Internet like firestorms.
Over the weekend They showed a show called "Cases that change America". They did a half hour about the Holloway case. Jane Velez Mitchell did the show. They had John Q Kelly on towards the end. The also had on Julia Renfro on over the phone.
The American people ask the filmmaker why there is no truth and justice for Natalee Holloway found in the movie. Why the film let the three murder suspects go scot free. Why the movie "glorifies" Joran's lies.
More reviews of the Natalee Holloway movie are popping up. Many of them are not favorable for Aruba. Aruba is really in trouble and in a very bad PR. Rumors of briberies and corruptions are surfacing during the filming operations in South Africa. Don't know how these accuasations going to get resolved. However, the movie does have a high entertainment ratings so far.
Many people said they enjoyed the movie, but they didn't like Aruba at all and what they did to Beth Holloway.
The movie explains to the Arubans how their corrupt government officials helped Joran van der Sloot get away with the crimes against Natalee. It really stirs up their conscience and guilt while suffering the effects of boycotting. The Arubans are facing high unemployment, starvation and chaos on their little island. There is no escape for them.
From watching the movie, the American people have no doubt in their mind the Aruban government know right from wrong. But the Dutch government were mistaken by the Arubans' massive coverup which led to the economic breakdown of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
With the tax filing deadline fast approaching Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service will crack down on offshore tax evasion, while taking extra measures to help Americans struggling to survive the current recession, commissioner Douglas Shulman said today.
Aruba got hit very back. Most hotels are empty rooms now. The American people stay home and cancel their Aruban vacation trips. They will watch the Natalee Holloway movie.
The investigation of the tax evasion scams and the new Natalee Holloway movie release put the boycotting of Aruba in a very strong position.
The American authorities knew it had a president who would back them up. The boycotting of Aruba is in full steam. The crime records of Aruba will be published on the Internet to let the American people know how dangerous a place Aruba actually is.
The moviemeter is up 60% in viewing preference for the Natalee Holloway Story movie. The Aruban government discourage their workers from watching the moive. The boycott is in awareness of the American tourists. They cancel their Aruban summer trips altogether.
The Aruban government don't like the young faces of the actress and actor in the moive. The emotions and anguish will have fatal effects on the Aruban tourism.
When all the American tourists stop going to Aruba, it will be a true tragedy for Aruba.
The Aruban government said Missing Teen Natalee Holloway Story becomes Lifetime Movie is a terrible mistake made by the Ameircan anti-Aruba media.
Aruban government is built on sands of coverups and corruptions. Boycotting Aruba is the correct way to reform the evil Aruban government. Year 2009 will be a very difficult economic time for Aruba, but it's worth it.
The severity of the Aruban government coverups have caused more job losses and foreclosures and more pains in the American economy.
The Recovery Advice is to boycott Aruba and Dutch simultaneously by not buying the Aruban real estate and timeshares.
The boycott are starting to generate signs of political reforms in Aruba.
The American authorities can't allow the corruptions of Aruban government to strangle our economy.
Aruban goverment opens door for American authorities investigation under the heavy pressure from ArubanBoycott grassroot movement founder Michelle.
The Dutch government was quite sanguine and simply advised the American tourists and expats not to get too close to Aruba.
Tour operators are frightened to buy the Aruban tourism products. It's a little bit risky to have them in your package because a lot of consumers will be frightened by the new Natalee Holloway Story movie.
Many Americans hate Aruba bitterly because the corrupt Aruban government timeshares forced them not able to write off their losses.

Air France-KLM to shed more than 2000 jobs

Last updated: Wednesday 15 April 2009 16:00 UTC
Airline Air France-KLM has announced it is to cut between 2500 and 3000 jobs over the next two years, but added that it doesn't expect it will have to make any forced redundancies.
The company says the jobs will go through staff reaching retirement age, non-renewal of temporary contracts and other forms of natural wastage.
Around 1000 jobs have already disappeared at the airline over the past year. The latest round of staff cuts had already been announced in February, at the time of the presentation of the company's figures for the last quarter of 2008.
The Aruba operations will be shut down end of this year due to the complete failure and losses of the Aruban tourism.
The outrageous loopholes of tax deferments promised by the Aruban offshore timeshares were uncovered last week by the American authorities. One Aruban real estate broker was arrested in US pending on the investigation of Aruban government's coverup and corruptions in their timeshares vacation packages marketed in US.
A lot of Arubans are afraid of the movie about Natalee. They were warned by the ALE yesterday. The Aruban government learned the lesson from protesters in Thailand where Joran currently goes school there. He might have participated in the anti-government actions. Oduber is so afraid that the movie can stir up strong anti-Aruban government emotions in Aruba. He already knows many Americans hate Aruba.
Brinkman, Beth and Greta will be in Aruba on May 30 to challenge the Aruban government about the rape and murder of Natalee Holloway. And bring the case directly into the International Court of Criminal Justice in Hague. The new Natalee Holloway movie generates vast support for Hero Brinkman to fight the Aruban government coverups and corruptions.
Boycotting Aruban tourism is the right way to get justice for Natalee. The American authorities got the approval to cut off the foreign aids to Aruba immediately, and put that saved money into the high speed rail development projects in Florida this morning. Aruba is now free falling into become a poor third world country with the termination of generous American foreign aids. The Dutch government does not oppose the decision made by the American authorities.
The Natalee Holloway movie has inspired the American people, the president and American authorities how to deal with the corruption and coverups of the Aruban government and Jorna van der Sloot. Thailand is the only safe haven for Joran, he is not safe in Aruba, Holland and US. His California girl warned him not to kiss her in the international university in Thailand.
Henk Jan Ormel, chair of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, will support MP Hero Brinkman to investigate Aruba corruption and coverups. Hero is getting more votes in the Dutch Parliament because of the popularity of the Natalee Holloway movie.
Someone will link LMN to Facebook. You can watch the Natalee Holloway movie clips on Facebook from time to time. Joran is enjoying his notority in Thailand international university. He will speak to Greta on April 19 also.
Joran van der Sloot is back in hot water again, this time in Thailand the Thai police is investigating the claims of his Thai girlfriend that Joran leads a Dutch gang protest against the current Thailand government.
Rachael and Nam are girlfriends of Joran. Joran is not in the university today. The Thai police is looking for him for questioning. There is a video showing him and others in the anti-government demonstation. Joran has made another big mistake in his life.
Tracy Pollen who plays Beth Holloway in the Movie will be on the VIEW friday to promote the Movie.Hero tried to get the Dutch to go after Aruba. But Johan Remkes one of the party heads in Holland helped crush that idea by Brinkman a few months ago. Remkes a few years ago nominated Paulus to try and become a judge in Aruba.
Dutch MP Geert Wilders joins alliance with MP Hero Brinkman and Crown Prince Willem Alexander to fight coruptions and coverups in Aruba, to restore the glory and reputation of Kingdom of Netherlands. Queen Beatrix is being forced by the young Dutch people to retire as early as this year end.
St. Maarten and Curacao informed Crown Prince Willem Alexander that Queen Beatrix supports the conspiracy and plots of Aruba seceesion and the annexation of all the Dutch Antillies into the new Republic of Aruba in June 2009.
Queen Beatrix is in deep dispute with the Dutch Parliament over the unpaid taxes on her Dutch oil company stock dividents since 1990.
Dutch political scientist Eline van den Broek critized Queen Beatrix support of Aruba seceesion from Kingdom of Netherlands. Said Queen Beatrix is corrupt and navie with Aruba PM Oduber.

Cabinet calls on councils to tackle alcohol abuse
Published: Friday 17 April 2009 06:53 UTC
Last updated: Friday 17 April 2009 06:53 UTC
The government has called on local councils to do more to tackle the problem of alcohol abuse. Only a quarter of councils currently have an alcohol policy in place and the cabinet wants more active involvement at local level.
The ministers are particularly concerned with youth drinking, as the number of young teenagers taken to hospital with alcohol poisoning rose by 13 percent last year to almost 340. The average age of the children admitted to hospital was 15, slightly younger than in 2007.
The government is also urging a clampdown on illegal drinking dens. Illegal bars are popular among youths in rural areas.
Youth and Family Minister Andre Rouvoet says the figures on youth drinking are a cause for concern. But the increase in the number of youths admitted to hospital with alcohol poisoning could be attributed to improved registration procedures and the fact that more clinics for alcohol abuse are opening up, Mr Rouvoet said.
Due to the popularity of the Natalee Holloway movie, the Dutch government is very concerned about Joran van der Sloot's bad drinking behavior in Thailand. Young Dutch underage teenages drink more illegally and irresponsibly because of the rape and murder done by Joran van der Sloot in Aruba and Thailand.
The Dutch government wants to take advantage of the force of the most popular American movie Natalee Holloway Story to clam down on Aruba's rebellion, and take control of Aruba from its corrupt government. Aruba has decided to secede from Holland in June with the formal declaration from Queen Beatrix. The Dutch people want Queen Beatrix to abandon her throne immediately for the damage control. Aruba is a vital part of Kingdom of Netherlands.
Beth will appear on GMA for the movie commentary.
Greta is very jealous of the Natalee Holloway movie. Her blognews rating is all time low. Foxnews is putting a lot of pressure on her to get Natalee's story back, and to boost Foxnews' falling ratings.
Under the extreme pressure of the popular American movie Natalee Holloway, The Dutch government is sending Transparency International Commissioner, the State Secretary of Kingdom Relations Ank Bijleveld-Schoutento, to Aruba and ask the Aruban government to return the remains of Natalee Holloway to her mother Beth Holloway in US or face the boycott from Holland.
Dutch WWII Resistance movement disbands

The Netherlands' former WWII Resistance movement is disbanding. The association of ex-resistance groups will cease to exist next year, immediately after the 65th anniversary of Liberation.
The Resistance fighters tried to deny the return of Queen Beatrix and her accomplices after WWII. Now Queen Beatrix is stepping down. The Dutch people wellcome the new future king Willem Alexander. There is no need for future resistance movement.
Tracy Pollan who played Natalee's mother Beth, is hot. The admirable perception is that Beth Holloway is young and sexy in the movie, and has drawn again the whole world of sympathy and support for her quest to find her dear beautiful daughter Natalee Holloway missing in Aruba. The American authorities upgraded the boycotting of Aruba to Job One Priority which means the American tourists can no longer get low interest mortgage loans to buy the Aruban vacation timeshare homes or hotel rooms.
The Dutch screen plays professor in Holland praised the Beth Holloway is young, beautiful and energetic in the movie, played by Tracy Pollan. This good match is keeping the Natalee Holloway story fresh and alive. It also put heavy unberable pressure on the Dutch and Aruban governments to have to arrest Joran van der Sloot to settle the issue of injustice done to Natalee Holloway.
The problem is that the youthful looking moivie actress makes Joran look like a bloated old fat Dutchman in Thailand. More teens in Thailand are cussing and scolding Joran for being a bad animal in the university campus. He's trapped now in his own lies and sex games.
More and more people want to boycott Aruba. The new TV movie Natalee Holloway starred by Tracy Pollan is eye-catching. Michael Fox, her husband for over 20 years, fights his Parkinson's disease very bravely. He has inspire his courage and healing spirit into Tracy in playing the true story real life Natalee's mother Beth Holloway. A perfect lifetime truth seeking story film, prased by the Hollywood movie critics. Tracy Pollan projects a young face and attractive body to the author Beth Holloway, that's the secret for the success of this blockbuster TV movie. Tracy and Beth are hot in Amazon.com

Less passengers not only to recession
17 Apr, 2009, 16:02 (GMT -04:00)
Airport director Peter Steinmetz yesterday during the presentation of the financial report for the past year.
ORANGE CITY - The economic downturn, according to airport director Peter Steinmetz is not the main reason for the declining number of passengers of the last eight months. It was rather to "individual factors" and not the credit crisis, says Steinmetz.
This caused a negative impact in the first quarter by as much as 50 percent versus the same quarter last year. This is a clear example that the downturn has to do with the boycotting by ArubanBoycott grassroot movement.

Holiday bookings down
Published: Saturday 18 April 2009 08:30 UTC
Last updated: Saturday 18 April 2009 14:35 UTC
For the first time in years, the number of holiday bookings has dropped. The ANVR, the association of Dutch travel agents and tour operators, says a recent survey has revealed that from January to the beginning of April, 13 percent fewer holidays were booked than in the corresponding period last year.
The association also found that flying has become less popular, with 21 percent fewer package holidays booked than in 2008. It says that not only are people looking for a holiday closer to home and taking fewer holidays, but they are now also waiting longer before booking a holiday.
With the popularity of the new TV movie Natalee Holloway and the ongoing boycott of Aruba by the American tourists, AHTA have lost over 80% of the 2009 Christmas and New Year holidays bookings. Aruba has on other choice but to arrest Joran van der Sloot to settle the crime of rape and murder of Natalee Holloway by Joran van der Sloot to save its dying economy. The Dutch and American authorities already cut off the foreign aids money to Aruba last week. Aruba is on its own survival struggle. Many Arubans might commit the suicide murders to end their own frustrations and sufferings, according to the prediction of a Dutch social science college professor teaching at the Aruban univerisy in South Nicolas, Aruba.
After watching the new movie Natalee Holloway, members of the Dutch parliament passed an instruction to outlaw the advocation of the secession of Aruba from the Kingdom of Netherlands. The intruction also gave the warning to Aruba prime minister Nelson Oduber and marked him of as anti-Dutch and anti-American. Also the boycott measure is introduced and immediately carried out by the Dutch authories in Dutch Antillies.
Peter R. de Vries praises the new American moive Natalee Holloway. He supports the future Dutch King, the Crown Prince Willem Alexander, to bring reforms to the corrupt government in Aruba.
The Dutch authorities boycott and eliminate the wasteful federal building programs and new suv police cars. The Aruban police personnel should walk more on patrols on the island to reduce their fat bodies and improve their sagging images.
Beth is right - being a family member of a victim of crime does make you want to reach out and help others. It helps to heal you.
Beth is a wonderful example for many parents, she sets the bar high and I personally look up to her and have tried to follow her lead in reaching out and helping others.
My daughter was raped 1 yr after Natalee. Fo 1 yr I watched and admired Beth as a mother. Then God told me it was my turn. I didn't want to do it but we sought out the media and it was a direct result from watching Beth.
I thank God for Beth and Natalee. Their example of strength has helped me to be stronger.Link to my daughters story:

ok for one. i think the natalee holloway movie is a bad interpretation of the island of aruba. the fact that is wasnt even filmed in aruba and doesnt show the actuality of everything. aruba is not what you all are making it out to be. i'm a 22 year old female who has been going to aruba since i was 16 years old. i feel more comfortable there than i do in a lot of places in the united states. i was actually in aruba less than 3 months after natalee's disappearance and i didnt feel threatened or unsafe. unless you have actually been to aruba and experienced it for yourself and how nice and caring the people actually are there i think you should keep your negative opinions to yourself. things like this happen in the united states daily but you dont see it being made as big of a deal.
Respect goes out to jaime, as a tourist make those senseless ppl know about Aruba.
Thank you.....
No matter what, Aruba is a loved Island...It's popularity is still rising...
Boycotting americans from traveling to aruba by making a movie, doesn't stop the rest of the world from traveling to Aruba.
I'm a proud Arubian...it's a shame how they made a movie about nathalee which is not filmed in Aruba. Bringing bad popularity/negativity to Aruba.
Get envolved with the Almighty ...go to church and help your self....heartless ppl.
And this is refering to the person who wrote this " The Aruban police personnel should walk more on patrols on the island to reduce their fat bodies and improve their sagging images".
They should watch their own country people that is suffering from overweight day by day, nr1 in the world for the most overweight ppl. They should get on some jenny gr. or zumba, Billy B. etc. doesn't all those exercise help. I guess not because still nr1. in the most overweight ppl in the world.
Stupid Americans...
Thousands of people are raped, kidnapped and/or murdered in the US and around the world each year, and you keep broadcasting this story of a young, rich, blonde, beautiful girl who liked to party and to drink alcohol and went missing in Aruba... C'mon, there are plenty of cases like this one! Go make a film about all these cases and not just only on Holloway's, or make no film at all!
And besides, someone said that Aruba is a dangerous place for Americans... then, go to some barrios and inner cities in the US, and you will see which one's the most dangerous!
Stupid!
I don't think that Aruba is a dangerous place per say. This could have happened anywhere in the world.
Young girls, teenagers, just out of college and ready to start their life... excited, away from home, an introduction to alcohol and possible drugs (don't get me wrong... not to say that this girl used drugs).
But it happens... and it is unfortunate it happened n Aruba. If it would have happened anywhere else in the Carribean that specific place was likely to receive bad publicity.
Having said that: who is responsible ?
Parents for letting their children go on trips like this? Hardly, at some point one has to let them fly away and make their own decisions.
The truth is: we will never know what really happened to that girl. And unfortunately the family has to live with that for the rest of their lives.
It must be heartbreaking.
Now I watched the movie last night and at the end I could only think one thing: such a shame that this tragic event has been turned into a tv movie... I could instantly hear that the actors were South African, saw that it was filmed in South Africa ... all this can be forgiven. I can only understand that Aruba would not give any permission to film this on their island.
But what was even more disappointing was the whole acting. No matter how good the actors may have been in previous parts, they could not deliver this. The actress who played mother Beth's part did not convince me as a mother, in fact: she made me dislike her. Something I cannot imaging happening with the real mother. Her acting was over the top, she came across as unfriendly and a hysterical American (which she must have been, but there is something heartbreaking about a mother who is seeking for her lost daughter, a woman like that will always touch your emotions, because it is what she feels... this actress did not bring that across, not for one single bit.
Was LifeTime TV in such a rush to put this on TV so soon ?
If it had to be done, why not wait till there was more money and get the best actors/actresses.
I feel terribly sorry that this had to turn into a cheaplooking show.
I salute Beth for pursuing and trying to warn the teenagers and parents in the US (and worldwide probably) that this can happen.
There is not need to boycot America, but there is all the more reason to warn the teenagers worldwide: there is always danger outside and that's what you have to keep in mind.
Aruba, New York, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Brazil, or just around the corner...
Danger disguises itself in the best and sometimes seductive looking ways.
