Renovation of Hyatt costs 20 million dollars

ARUBA -- Hyatt Regency Aruba will be renovated next year. Hirsch Bedner Associates, famous for their interior design, will be in charge of the renovation. The lobby, Alfresco bar, rooms, suites and Palms Restaurant and Bar will get a new look. The renovation must be complete in the spring of 2007.


The Hyatt already underwent the first changes this month with the Caribbean influences in a contemporary style, the open spaces, and the landscaping. Chuck Floyd, executive vice president and COO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, indicated that the purpose of the renovations is to make the guests feel comfortable. “Within the Caribbean market of resorts, Hyatt Regency Aruba is aiming for finding the perfect balance between luxury and pleasure.”



The open-air lobby is completely refurnished. The check-in counter will be provided with glass-, wooden-, and pearly design. Banana plants in pots and comfortable lounge chairs decorate the lobby. For the Alfresco bar they have used stainless steel, teak, and rattan elements and there will be flat screen TV’s in the bar.

Hyatt Regency Aruba has 360 rooms, of which 24 suites. All these rooms will be completely refurnished. The bathrooms will be rebuilt. The rooms will get bigger beds. The hotel as 4 special suites, which are the Governor’s Suite (232 square meters), de Netherlands Suite (176 square meters) and two VIP Suites (106 square meters). These rooms will have an Italian interior. Palm Restaurant and Bar will get a complete new look with elements of glass and stainless steel.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has 215 hotels and resorts worldwide. They are spread over 44 countries and have a total of 90.000 rooms. The corporation has the Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt chains. More than 32 new hotels and resorts are currently being built, of which 11 in China.
