"CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?"

Investigation on "HOLD"

ORANJESTAD (AAN): Monday, the police union (SPA) held a press conference to clear up certain matters that are still pending with the police force. According to SPA president Eric Zaandam, there are some things that are going in a troublesome route and because of this he felt it would be good to hold a press conference.

According to Zaandam, he noted that letters that were sent to the police force, to indicate that certain persons cannot speak with the press anymore, etc. Also, in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, certain people cannot speak to the press, which makes everything fall upon the police force, on its employees.

According to the SPA president, it is now enough and they have to explain to the press what is taking place, so that the press can see what is going on.

Zaandam said that he wants to elaborate on the matter of Commissioner Dompig, where he has been prohibited from speaking to the press and that the Minister of Justice said that Dompig speaks too much with the press and because of this he has forbidden him from doing so.

According to Zaandam, 2 months ago Dompig was approached by AHATA’s CEO, who is a member of the Communications Task Force, Jorge Pesquera, to become spokesperson of the task force.

The reason was that a few consultancy companies in the US showed that the message on the part of Aruba was not reaching in a clear and strong manner internationally using the spokespersons that they were using.

The consultancy companies counseled the Task Force to get a person who knows the legal process and knows about investigations in Aruba and so they decided to approach Dompig to do this.

The arrangement for Dompig’s interviews was that all questions that were to be asked of Dompig, among others for the magazine ‘Vanity Fair’, were first screened by the consultancy companies so that Commissioner Dompig could give the appropriate answers. All this took place according rules and wording, with the Prime Minister’s knowledge who gave the OK for this. Now that everything has come out in Vanity Fair and that the American producers have come out with another strategy to attack Aruba, all of a sudden Dompig has become a person who speaks too much.

The Minister of Justice came into the game, as if there was no communication between the Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice, and now all the press knows that the Minister of Justice prohibited Commissioner Dompig from speaking. These dirty games are unacceptable, according to Zaadam, who said that, for example, no one from the Task Force has come forward to say that they gave Commissioner Dompig the OK themselves, and that they have screened everything and that all was done in a correct manner.

The Prime Minister also can come forward to say that the Minister of Justice was at fault for prohibiting Dompig from speaking. This, according to Zaandam, who said that he wants to bring this type of thing forward to show how the police is being played by all other institutions.

All these games are for one sole objective that is unacceptable for the police, where for example prosecutor Karen Janssen was also prohibited to speak. After some time, now the Minister of Justice has expressed that prosecutor Angela from CuraƧao has come to Aruba to conduct an investigation of the team of investigators.

According to the SPA president, Angela has come to Aruba to do this and not to assist in the investigation. This cannot be, according to Zaandam, who said that there can never be and investigation in an investigation.

After that SPA met with the team of investigators, they agreed that they are going to have everything on hold, until they are able to find out exactly what prosecutor Angela has come to do in Aruba. When they asked chief prosecutor Karen Janssen what prosecutor Angela came to do in Aruba, she said that she doesn’t know, that it’s something she can’t.

Prosecutor Angela hasn’t been in contact with the investigative team either, about for example, certain documents that he has related to the case, to see in detail what is taking place.

According to Zaandam, prosecutor Angela is sitting in an office at the Attorney General’s, is looking at the investigation files, which is something that cannot take place, and because of this they have stopped the investigation of the case, temporarily. Zaandam said that he realizes that this is a very troublesome decision, but it will be taken until they find more clarity about this.

He continued to say that now the American Senate has asked for more information on the case of Holloway and the intention of the government to send Arlene Schipper and Commissioner Dolfi Richardson to Washington. Zaandam said that this is after three Commissioners that they added to the investigation of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. This way people’s attention is diverted.

This, according to the SPA president, who said that it is a public secret that there is a problem between the Attorney General and chief prosecutor Karen Janssen, and this is just something that cannot go on in the police force. According to Zaandam, he wants to avoid any division within the police force, that they government and others are trying to create.

First there was the supposed clash between Commissioner van der Straten and Commissioner Dompig, where van der Straten retired and things calmed down. Now Dompig took over the case, where they involved Dolfi Richardson in the game, to see if there was a clash.

SPA advised the two Commissioners that there is no clash in the police force and they expressed together that they are behind the investigative team, that they are together in this and that they speak together in respect to the team and the case. It is clear that if there is a separate power who wants to divide this team, they can forget about it.

According to Zaandam, the investigative team is doing a tremendous job and this has also been expressed by the Dutch colleagues, who were also in Aruba for the investigation.

These Dutch experts expressed in an FBI magazine that they could not have done a better job than the Aruban investigative team, (I can't believe the balls on those Dutch experts saying the FBI wouldn't have done a better job than the Aruban investigative team!) would have.

However the Minister of Justice indicated that there will be an investigation of the investigative team, on the part of prosecutor Angela (whom he has respect for, according to Zaandam), who has barely 2 years as prosecutor, compared to the 15/16 years of experience of the prosecution’s office. According to Zaandam, it’s best if they brought a prosecutor or expert from Holland, for example, who has a lit of experience in this area, for them to come do their investigation.

Zaandam said that the police of Aruba even listened to the FBI agents in Aruba speaking to their superiors in the US, saying what a good job the Aruban investigators are doing and do with the resources they have.

Aruba is trying to find out what happened. Sometimes bad things happen and no one can stop them. Beth twitty may be a grieving mother who needs someone to blame, or she may be addicted to the limelight but it is silly to blame Aruba for this.

People dissapear all over the world even here in the US.

I say this from the perspective of someone who graduated from Columbine HS in 99. I saw first hand what the tragedy did to some people. The parents of some of the victims still believe that some of the children were killed by the police.

At this point almost anyone will tel you that the Columbine parents have pushed their agenda too far. Publicly people may say nice things but they cannot even raise enough money for a memorial. The same thing is happening to the Twitty's publicly people may say nice things but a lot of people are getting tired of her routine.

Compassion is a great thing but don't be blinded by it.

It's certainly going to be interesting if this Aruban delegation actually does come to the U.S. Yes, it would be nice to hear them explain why they just dropped the "investigation" into the disappearance of an American citizen.

But I'll bet 2-to-1 odds that the Arubans won't have the gumption to show their ugly faces here. I imagine that after this nonsense, they will have to call off the trip because of "sudden urgent duties" or some such garbage.

Or maybe their Dutch counterparts will have enough decency not to want to sit with them.

This news makes me think of children in a sandbox. Gee, isn't it too bad that the law enforcement of Aruba has to worry about details like the disappearance of an American girl.

Hey, obviously their bureaucratic games and their payoffs from drug barons are more important.

The only good aspect of this news is that it makes clear beyond a doubt that Aruba never intended to do anything about the case from day one. Can you imagine the police in any CIVILIZED country, or even any civilized COLONY, saying "We can't do our jobs until we play patty-cake with the politicians"?

I hope that this latest sordid episode makes lights shine in a few minds in Washington, but I'm not holding my breath.

Now, let's make these Arubans come face-to-face with the Holloway Twitty family in OUR country (where Aruba can't throw Beth in jail to silence her) and make them tell how they are calling off the never-never "investigation."

And let's get it on camera, so we can show the Arubans WHY WE WILL BOYCOTT THEIR STINKING ISLAND.

Let's leave them to the drug barons.

Okay, for some reason the post that is titled "Arubagirl Hates Me" doesn't allow comments, so I'm taking the liberty in posting on this entry.

First of all, I don't hate you. I will say that I had some major eyerolling going on when I saw the interview. "Blasphemous"? I mean...what?

Second of all, it's going to be hard to understand, but perhaps we in Aruba know what is going on better than those in the States. Unless everybody lies here. Oh...wait, don't answer that.

Third, I've at least had the courtesy to link to most claims that I've made, I will admit that I couldn't find all, but Setarnet fell out (now, can you bash them? That'd be really great). However, I've seen no stats on our wildly available drugs et al.

Anyway, my point is that if you believe that I "hate" you because I vehemently disagree with the interview. Otherwise Dan Riehl also hates you.

My disillusionment at SM has nothing to do with your post. It was reading that I was not to be trusted. That is what put me over the edge there. Harrumph!

Lord knows that this case has affected several people in Aruba, and for God knows what reason I've decided to take an almost obsessive interest in this case. However, I daresay that I've maintained by objectivity as much as possible in this case. I don't believe that I've been bamboozled by a campaign of disinformation, because the info that I get from Aruba is mostly from Diario. You know, whose owner and editor is Beth's hero.

I hope that you understand that when I see things that are not true (FBI not helping? WTH?!), I will answer them. I don't think either you, me or Beth are evil by doing this.

Nel Oduber is an idiot. And I'm STILL not arrested.

Okay, I've hijacked your blog enough, you know where to find me.

Nope, no leprechaun spell for me.

Just outrage at seeing an American family lied to by a foreign government after trying to "play their game" ... being lied to and deceived for seven months ... and meanwhile, our own government sits by and tells us not to make waves.

That's all ... nothing important.

At least, nothing important in Aruba, land of the drug lords (see the State Department Web site).

Guess I'll go have me a beer at Carlos 'n' Charlies ... that's what the real issue is, right?

The same kind of runaround that the family of Amy Bradley has gotten ever since 1998 ... also from a Dutch colony.

By the way ... Joe Mammana is of Sicilian background, I believe. Strange antecedents for leprechauns.

According to one version of this story that I have read, prosecutor Karin Janssen has been fired. Maybe that means this Angela is taking over from her.

Gee, wasn't Karen Janssen just named woman of the year in Aruba? I guess one hand there doesn't know what the other is doing.

ORANJESTAD (AAN) DIARIO’s Woman of the Year for this year is Karin P. J. Janssen who is chief prosecutor for the Public Ministry.

I don't think anyone believes that the whole island of Aruba is engaged in a cover-up. And how do you figure the involvement of the U.S. government?

But what I DO believe is that the Aruba government is protecting "one of its own," and that the only conceivable reason is that vdS has something on his colleagues.

What could it be? Hmmm ... read the information on the U.S. State Department Web site about human trafficking in Aruba. Read the information on the Drug Enforcement Administration Web site about the growing presence of organized crime and drug kingpins in Aruba.

Who better for these people to have on their side than a wannabe judge? (Hey, you think that could be why dear little Joran and daddy get to carouse and gamble at the casino, in violation of the law?)

The strings are being pulled in favor of the vdS family ... the question is, what is the leverage?

I am going to do what I can to get our DEA functions out of Aruba. I suspect some people in that government and some drug kingpins have much in common...

Check out, on the DEA Web site, how a Saudi prince and some Colombian drug barons set up a meeting in Aruba. Odd place, huh?

Can't say that Joe Mammana resembles a leprechaun, having never met any leprechauns.

I could tell you what the vdS family resemble, but you wouldn't care to hear it. And I can tell you what Joran and his two sidekicks resemble ... a trio of psychotic freaks. A regular freak show, courtesy of the Aruba government.

But be warned; freaks can turn on you.
