AMSTERDAM--Publisher Sijthoff has bought the exclusive rights for a book concerning the disappearance of American... Natalee Holloway based on depositions of the Dutch suspect Joran van der Sloot. Journalist Zvezdana Vukojevic will write the book that is coming out next spring.


Holloway disappeared more than a year ago on Aruba. Van der Sloot was jailed for awhile, because the police force, thought that he had something to do with the disappearance . It is still not clear what has happened with the American tourist.


In the book van der Sloot , who studies nowadays in the Netherlands, tells about his life before he met Holloway, the time in the prison and the interrogations of the police force. He will also gives his vision about the missing and writes the foreword of the book. (DUTCH PRESS AGENCY)

MERI'S "TWO CENTS"

Who in their right mind wants to read a memoir about a seventeen to nineteen year old spoiled, rich boy who is the MAIN suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway? Even if the ALE is wrong and Joran did not kill Natalee Holloway...how interesting is the life of someone who, prior to his notoriety (and the disappearance of Natalee) was merely a kid who drank, gambled and picked up tourist girls while under the age of consent?


How interesting is Joran van der Sloot without the umbrella of suspicion hanging over his head? I could think of several (probably millions) of teenagers who party in their spare time and disobey their parents whenever they feel like it. I could write about many teenagers who are uncontrollable and who's parents turn a blind eye to their behavior.


Why in the world would this information make Joran van der Sloot interesting? If not for his having been the LAST KNOWN person to see Natalee Holloway, and the person who is suspected of sexually assaulting and possibly murdering and disposing of her, why would we pay any attention whatsoever to Joran van der Sloot.


He ain't no Brad Pitt in the looks department and he sure is no Rhodes Scholar. He was merely a brat who should have been reigned in by his indulgent parents but who got away with whatever he wanted to. Not terribly interesting...just pathetic.


How many new lies will Joran add to his ever growing list of "stories" regarding Natalee? How much will he embellish his accomplishments in his short-lived life up to the moment he met Natalee? Even then, he would NEVER be of interest to the average person. Now if Joran were to tell the truth (a truly foreign concept to this boy who is supposedly worthy of his own biography at age nineteen), I might want to read his book...but he won't. He never has and he has no plans to do so.


If some publisher is stupid enough to translate the book into English I ask you not to buy it. Why make Joran even richer?

Should Joran profit for lying? Should he profit from possibly destroying another young life? I don't think so!
