Police union enraged by writ against public speaking
June, 2006, ARUBA – Police union SPA is enraged by the writ against public speaking of chief of police Gerold Doming. The police are also not happy with the arrival of a new district attorney for the Holloway-case, the Aruban (NOT DUTCH!) Leomar Angela.
According to SPA, Angela is not doing investigations on the disappeared American girl, but on how the investigation is being done. According to Chairman Eric Zaandam, Angela is going through the files in a separate office next to that of the attorney general and has not yet spoken to anybody of the investigation team. Spa would like to get more clarity on the part that Angela plays in this.
That Justice-minister Rudy Croes has given chief of police Gerold Dompig a writ against public speaking now, is foul play. According to Zaandam, it was the Strategic Communications Task Force itself that has asked the chief of police to function as spokesperson. Zaandam cannot understand the fact that the minister is now prohibiting this and that the Task Force does not stand up for Dompig. He says that Prime Minister Nelson Oduber knew about Dompig’s interview with Vanity Fair.
