DEMANDING CHANGE--DON'T SPEND U.S. DOLLARS IN ARUBA

By Meri, Aruban Boycott Blogger

It's time to put aside political correctness and it's time to tell the truth. We cannot afford to have feelings for the innocent Aruban citizens any longer. We can't afford to sacrifice anymore of our children to the corrupt gods on the island of Aruba.

At first I was reluctant to speak the word boycott because it meant that people would be hurt as a result of such an action. I was concerned about those who earn a living in the tourist industry that Aruba thrives on. I no longer feel that way...and for good reason. I have seen and heard enough to stop trying to protect those who don't have the guts to protect themselves by demanding removal of their corrupt public officials.

If they don't care about what happens to an innocent American tourist than why should I care about them? Many times in history when a place is governed by a regime that is inept and corrupt the people rise up and demand change. Not on Aruba. The people there seem to accept the unsolved crime and the lack of justice. The voices of reason on Aruba are so few and so outnumbered that it is a living hell for those who expect to live in peace and without fear.

Why should we spend our money on such a place? Why should we feed the corruptness with our hard earned dollars? Why should we help pay the salaries of police who are either incapable of doing their job or who are prevented from doing it by higher ups who prefer cover-up to justice? Why should we fund their refusal to protect us if we make their island our vacation destination?

The answer is obvious to all but a few who insist on turning their backs on the truth that has become abundantly clear. The answer is obvious to anyone who possesses any common sense...there is only ONE answer... BOYCOTT ARUBA and make sure that you tell your friends, neighbors and family members to do the same.
